Amazon price drops fuels more rumors

Posted by www.Gameztraffic.com at 16:52

Amazons listing for the 160gb PS3 Uncharted bundle was dropped from $499 to $449 last week, fueling rumors that a price drop could come as soon as next month. Sony also doubled the production order from its Taiwanese manufacturer for PS3’s. The order came after cost for manufacturing these parts was dropped by 70%. All of this has given even more legs to the rumor of the unveiling of a PS3 “slim” model hitting shelves in the near future, as well as a price drop on the current consoles.

The rumor of a PS3 slim has been running rampant for some time now, with numerous videos being leaked of the supposed console, although Sony has denied any production or plans for a slim model. Sony has been plagued by leaks this year, starting with the release of Team Ico’s new trailer for “The Last Guardian” and the leak of the PSP Go before the announcement at E3 this year. Whether the PS3 slim is the latest leak or not won’t be known for a few months, but analysts expect to see a major announcement from them in the coming months.
