Activision and Double Fine settle, Rocktober sill on

Posted by www.Gameztraffic.com at 17:01

Publisher Activision and developer Double Fine have finally reached a settlement that allows Tim Schaffer’s “Brutal Legend” to be released as planned. Activision, who initially had publishing rights to the game and later dropped it, was suing Double Fine to prevent the games release through publisher EA. Activision claimed they still owned rights to Brutal Legend following the merger with Vivendi that initially prompted the release of the game.

Double Fine claimed that Activision actually cancelled the game, giving Double Fine the right to shop for a new publisher, and they eventually were picked up by EA. They had claimed Activision was only trying to prevent release to leverage money out of a game they dropped prematurely. The settlement amount has not yet been released, but we do know that Rocktober is still happening.
